[Sydney] Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club - Bunkers, bunkers and more bunkers

by SydGolfnTravel 2025. 7. 9.

There are many well-known and good courses in Sydney, but one course that I always want to visit whenever I have the chance is Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club. Located in the beautiful Nepean Valley, about 50 minutes west of the city, this is a private member course built in a quiet rural residential complex, and it is a place where the word 'private' is not an exaggeration to say that it is a place with excellent management and class.

Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club

A strategic course designed by Graham Marsh

Twin Creeks is one of the courses designed by Graham Marsh, a master of Australian golf course design, and is particularly famous for the large bunkers blocking the fairway. When standing on the tee box of hole 1, the numerous bunkers spread out in the middle of the wide fairway heighten the tension from the start of the round.

The course is a good mix of links and parkland styles, with trees and water hazards strategically placed in a spacious atmosphere. The fairways are wide, but the bunkers and rough do not allow for complacency, which is the charm of Twin Creeks.

Bunkers, bunkers, and more bunkers, there are so many bunkers on almost every hole that even a slight miss on the tee could lead to you hitting the ball from a bunker all day long. It is said that golfers who visit Twin Creeks for the first time end up giving up after counting the number of bunkers, which is why it is a championship course with so many bunkers.

Signature holes and challenge sections

One of the most notable holes for golfers at Twin Creeks is the par 3 6th hole. It
is 186m from the back tee, and you have to go through a narrow wooden path and over a water hazard to reach the green. It is one of the most tense holes in the front nine, requiring an accurate shot with a long iron.

In the latter half, the 15th hole, par 5, is a hidden battleground. The 15th hole is a long par 5 hole with a total length of 525m, but it is designed as an uphill course surrounded by a forest, so accuracy is the most important thing. If your tee shot or second shot is even slightly off, the thick trees on both sides will often swallow the ball.
The last three holes (16th to 18th) all have water hazards placed along the fairway or around the green, so you must not lose concentration until the end of the round to protect your score.

The leisure of Twin Creeks

Another reason Twin Creeks is loved is that, as a 'private membership club', the lawn management is always top-notch.
The spacious and clean clubhouse, practice range, and classy restaurant complete a 'golf day' beyond a round.

Thanks to its quiet rural village-like scenery while being close to the city center, it is relatively uncrowded even on weekends, making it a great place to enjoy a quiet game. It
is also frequently used as a venue for corporate events, weddings, and other events, and the condition of the grass and service never disappoint.

Overall Review

Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club is a premium golf course that has all three of the following qualities: seclusion, class, and strategy.
If you want to spend a special day in the suburbs of Sydney, I highly recommend experiencing a round of golf at least once, if you have the chance.
