[Blue Mountain] Wentworth Falls Country Club - Relaxing Round
Wentworth Falls Country Club is one of the representative local golf courses in the Blue Mountains region, located about 1 hour and 30 minutes from downtown Sydney. I visited in mid-May, a good time to feel the autumn mood, and thanks to the many cancellations due to the forecast rain, I was able to easily secure a tee time for Social Golf at 12 pm on Saturday.
- Location: Wentworth Falls, NSW
- Course Structure: Par 70 / 18 holes
- Recommended for: Golfers who want to enjoy a quiet round and nature.
- Summary of features: Quiet play, unmanned operation system, Blue Mountains' unique scenery
Course Features
Course elements | One-line review |
fairway | Spacious and comfortable. A bit rough but well maintained. |
green | Small and narrow, requires precise approach |
Number of bunkers | Small, suitable for beginners and high handicap golfers |
First half vs second half | The first 9 holes are better in terms of course condition and play flow. |
Part 3 composition | There are some relatively challenging short holes, making it fun. |
Number of holes on par 5 | Composed of 3, it may be disappointing for long-distance players |
Dogleg | Many dogleg holes in the second half, tee shot strategy is important |
Overall, it is not much different from the typical local club style. The weeds growing here and there on the fairway may make it feel like a 'backyard', but the greens were surprisingly well maintained, and the face flowed smoothly without any obstruction throughout the round.
Unmanned operating system
What's unique is that there may be times when there is no one in the pro shop.
If there is no one in the pro shop, you can check in directly with your card at the kiosk in front of the pro shop and then play.
This system is rarely seen in golf courses in Korea or Sydney, and shows the autonomous operating atmosphere unique to the Blue Mountains.
Seasonal Sense of Blue Mountains
Wentworth Falls is more of a club where you can enjoy playing in nature than simply a golf course.
Especially in autumn, the trees with autumn leaves and the cool air create a completely different feeling from Sydney.
- Autumn foliage scenery: Healing just by walking
- Crowding: Very low (weekend basis)
